Waterloo Innovation Park is a North Waterloo office campus consisting of 265,000 SF of state-of-the-art tech space.
The contraction of Canadian tech-giant Blackberry led to a surplus of office space in the Kitchener-Waterloo region. An innovative approach was required to make Waterloo Innovation Park stand out in an oversaturated market.
To best address the needs of current and future tenants, a community consultation period was held through surveying and meetings with company leads. Tenant feedback indicated a desire for healthy lunch options at the park, exercise and wellness facilities, and social events.
The Link @ Waterloo Innovation Park amenity centre was constructed in 2017. Located in the centre of the park and available to all tenants, the space offers: daily food vendors, reservable boardroom and event space, comfortable seating areas with board games, and regular health and wellness vendors.
The physical space is complemented with a vibrant design package and coordinated digital presence, from LED information boards throughout the park, regular email updates, and a web portal for tenants to reserve space and check events.
The Link continues to operate daily with dedicated dining and events programming. The centre now employs a full-time community coordinator and has migrated the web portal to the JMBG network (view site)
